Taken in what appears to be a hotel room, the photo shows the singer wearing a white dress with an extravagant bow and clutching a gun at her side. “Always chilling,” reads the caption. While we disapprove of the fetishisation of American gun culture, the image does have a certain Tarantino-esque allure. Lana’s 2023 record Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd was a critical darling and a favourite to win the two categories in which it was nominated: Album of the Year and Alternative Music Album of the Year. But she lost out on the former to Taylor Swift and the latter to Boygenius (that one stings...). Over a decade into her career, she has yet to receive any recognition from the Grammys. We’re not suggesting that Lana is planning to embark on a roaring rampage of revenge. In fact, she was nothing other than gracious on the night. But if you created a stunning masterpiece, saw it dismissed by your industry, and then seconds later found yourself being dragged on stage to celebrate your friend being awarded for a vastly inferior record… well, wouldn’t you?
