"First and foremost I'm not a model, I'm a performer. Performance is the moment - your one and only chance for a dialogue between you and the audience. The recording lasts forever, but can be changed and edited... what you do live is instant, and it provokes an instant reaction. Every gig is a hyper reflection of myself - I dress to feel like the sky's the limit, and I want to take the audience there with me. Personal style is not about cloth or costume, style is a fight with the naked body to wear clothing, style is an attitude and a mood. I like to defy stereotypes – but at the same time, I wear my heart on my sleeve and the way I dress reflects all the things I could possibly love or hate about myself. Sometimes I feel like a court jester or clown or part of a circus troupe…

To mesmerise people, enthral or even disgust them is better than to get no reaction at all. I'm embracing the journey that is life - I dress cheekily and try to get away with things for myself, not anyone else. Born and raised in South London, then back and forth between East Africa as a kid, I grew up around amazing women and their flamboyance inspired me big time. I just love the extravagance of the African/Carribbean culture, it took away any fear to dress flamboyantly and to embrace extreme colour and print. With my music and lyrics I'm communicating the perseverance of the human spirit… and that doesn't come without tragedy or comedy. Music is the soundtrack to my life and I see everyone's life as a feature film - it's not a rehearsal. Everyone's the star of their own movie and they dress accordingly. If I'm in a bad mood I'll wear something that boosts me, if I'm inspired I'll dress up – it can make you feel infinite being different in a world full of suits."

Lyrics to, 'Don't give up' – "She's got a talented face and a suitcase, ain't got no desire to go no place, in her case she's got no desire, with her hand in the flame, she says she don't feel the fire"
