"Cute? fuck yes! My lyrics are my personal feelings, Comanechi is the vehicle to address situations where I've been fucked over, like love affairs and tragedies. I try to do this in a funny way, which helps me to get over it and maybe helps other people as well. Better to laugh than cry. I always use lots of swear-words, I think perhaps I don't realise how severe my English language is. I play drums and sing in Comanechi, I always wanted to be a drummer but never thought I wanted to sing, or even could sing. But it was hard to find a good singer… also writing songs and then telling the singer to sing the way I want is difficult, so I started to sing by myself. Being Japanese and growing up in Japan, there's so many expectations about what you do, doing Comanechi in London has been a real eye-opener, I've been exposed to so many things. I grew up in Osaka, it's my favorite city… all the good bands come from there like Boredoms and Afri Rampo. Osaka people are warm and funny too, and really into food... I miss Osaka so much at the moment.
Hiroto Komoto, the singer in a famous Japanese band called The Blue Hearts, is amazing. I always wanted to be like him, he likes to get naked on stage, so that's probably where I get it from. I play drums and sometimes I get out from behind the kit, grab the microphone and scream and dance... I guess it's quite exciting for the audience to watch. I go mental and unexpected things happen, I once went to punch an audience member between the set because he was being a cunt. Performance is so important because of the energy, noise, emotion - it's so direct and real. Listening to an album isn't quite the same… like you don't want to watch porn videos and wank in your bedroom on your own all the time, you want to have sex and have fun. Same thing.
Lyrics from 'Death of You' - "Here tonight, I want to be the death of you. Here tonight, where are you going to take me to? You suck big cock, don't touch me I'm disgusting. Leo, you are fucking retard, Leo, you are my sunshine, my lovely sunshine..."
