British | SpecialTen turns art publishing on its head - there is no actual magazine, and no editorial remit. Instead, it's all about talent. Quickly acquiring classy artsy status for its quality content: exclusive documentaries, interviews and short films with-by-or-from artists and musicians (Be Your Own Pet, Cat Power), directors (Terry Gilliam), and actors (Samantha Morton), every issue also comes with a free limited-edition print from the likes of Jamie Hewlett, OBEY, or SSSR. With a different designer creating the look for each issue there is no consistent brand, so each issue is a new version of the last. The Specialten.tv web network, with its fullscreen Flash player, cuts the same deal: "If the piece is interesting and fulfilling for us and our viewers, we will run it," say the founders. |
