Paper Rad is an epileptic fit of Technicolor and trash. Synthesising pop culture, forgotten cartoon characters and bad commercials with alpha-tricks and fake tweening, Paper Rad's DIY style constructs an online palace of pixels, pantone, fluorescence and animation. The core of the collective - the musicians, techies and artists Ciocci, Ciocci and Jones, came together in 2000, and have since gone on to collaborate on lo-fi videos for Beck, The Islands and The Gossip (see below). Their aim? To revive the cyber-junk of the 70s and 80s, "freaking everyone else out by using the same throw-away trash". |
