T2 from Leeds made a massive impact over a year ago with his Bassline anthem and Ayia Napa and Malia theme tune Heartbroken, with all the popularity T2 quickly became a household name with everyone aged 7 to 50 blurring his track as a ringtone on their mobile phone. With a number 2 hit in the chart you would expect someone with now a very high profile to be in your face a bit more, we hardly saw the guy in 2008. ''I have been quiet because I've been making a lot of music and making sure my business aspect is up to scratch because unfortunately I made a lot of mistakes at the time when Heartbroken come out, so it was crucial for me to sort my business side of things out. I also took time out to invent my own style of production, because I wanted to stand alone rather than always be tagged to Bassline'', said T2. With now being young, Black and very successful in his own right, T2 must have thought it must have been the best thing to ever happen to him, ''Being famous was very awkward because I'm a very regular person, I still do normal things like go out an about on my own, then all of a sudden I'm getting noticed left right and centre, but it's ok because I received a lot of love from people throughout the whole journey. I don’t see myself as any form of celebrity, I'm just the same regular guy.''

The Bassline scene up north is a big deal the people down there feel as they have a sound to call their own, so with T2 moving to London which is now known as the Funky capital surely he must miss the scene from which he made his mark in? ''I miss the Bassline scene badly, but I guess sometimes you just have to  move on, I do still make Bassline tunes but now I just send it to the key DJ's.’’ London's ever growing Grime and Funky House scene didn't ever really adapt to Bassline quite as expected which was a surprise to me seeing as there are a lot of similarities within the two genres mentioned, both in the sounds and scenes, so how would a chart topping Bassline producer adapt to the change now that he moved to London, ''Funky House is good, I might dabble with that a bit more because girls like it, (laugh) the funny thing is I've always made House, I just never put it out, for example my next release Come Over featuring Michelle was made the week Heartbroken came out and I've just been holding on to it. I have a lot to show and that's what used to get to me when people thought I only made Bassline music and I'm thinking to myself Bassline hasn’t even been around as long as I've been making music, I didn't start Bassline either, anyway with every tune I'm going to bring out now is going to be different to the other tunes so no one can put me in a box because it makes it more exciting and diverse. My main focus now is my new sound, T2 music, the kind of sound you can't pigeon hole. I got the first single from that sound, Come Over dropping in March as the introduction.''

With a new sound and new outlook on life, can we see T2 making any other sort of music, Pop maybe? ''I already make a lot of different types of music as we speak, which you will hear on my album. It’s crazy and diverse and it makes me excited when I think about when it drops because I’m going to surprise a lot of people. 2009 has me setting the level up a notch in music creation within the UK.''
