After storming the fashion world with his clothing line Ek Thongprasert launches his jewellery line under his name but designing in collaboration with his long time friend Noon Passama. After meeting each other at university in Thailand in 2000, both of them ended up in Europe studying; Thongprasert at the Royal Academy in Antwerp and Passama at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Now focusing on incorporating fine details and unique materials, their jewels speak for themselves and this new line is already getting a reputation for a high level of craftsmanship. Dazed asks the duo about the meaning of precious.

Dazed Digital: Tell us about how the jewellery line started  ?
Noon Passama: It's a collaboration between the two fo us (Noon Passama & Ek Thongprasert). What we have in common is that we both approach our work based on strong concepts with research and deep analysis into the processes. We want to introduce our jewellery not only as accessories, but as a wearable media that communicates messages. We experiment with different kinds of materials and play with the idea of value.

DD: What inspired it?
Noon Passama: This collection we started with a question "What is precious?" Looking at any tangible object, what makes you consider something "precious"? What kind of quality would connect it to our pre-perception of preciousness?  Is it something glittering, shiny, delicate, or with colors relating to precious metal, etc.?
The collection bases on classical jewellery silhouettes, which refers to precious objects depending on wearer's historical background, from outlines of crown jewel necklaces to simple forms of chains. The work maintains its original silhouette, but discarded any normally expected details.

DD: Why have you changed from doing menswear to jewellery?
Ek Thongprasert: Actually we are doing both things at the same time; we normally have a brief discussion about what we want for each season, after that Noon will take care of a design part of jewellery. But during the whole period of making a collection we still discuss how the state of the collection until it finishes.

DD: Where do you seek for inspiration?
Noon + Ek: Our inspirations can come from something very simple. It can be just from one keyword or stupid questions. It depends on how I make link to further ideas and develop it.

DD: What makes u happy?
Noon: Positive surprises
Ek: Beautiful things.
