A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s, the Polish-born Strozyna has shown for the second season and has already made a name for himself with his graphic silhouettes and chunky, lacquered jewellery. Teaming silk organzas and knits with wooden necklaces and long linen frills, the clothes were folksy and sophisticated with inspirations ranging from Joseph Turner’s paintings to Art Nouveau to Polish folk art. Delicate knitted dresses were contrasted with oversized beads, and Swarovski crystals were sheathed in fabric and integrated into discreet diagonal channels. With colours restricted to shades of black, dusty pink and cream, the palette was muted and it referenced “the ever-changing sky”. The highlights of the collection included hand-made tapestry jackets, panelled dresses with long knitted strings, and shoes combined with Strozyna’s signature sculpted heels. Escape the algorithm!
