Free Range 2009

Our Free Range competition wants you to be the next best thing in illustration and photography!

Free Range is the best place for spotting the next major names in the art and design industry. Over the eight week period that Free Range occupies the colossal Old Truman Brewery space in East London, thousands of students from Britain's top art and design colleges are given a chance to exhibit their work - and that number keeps growing every year. Over 150,000 people visited the shows last year, putting Free Range up there with the big guns like The Royal Academy of Art.

Dazed want to take the Free Range ethos and extend it to everyone, whether they did or didn't make the final call for the London shows - to all those graduates across the country who think they have something we've never seen before. Are you the next Ryan McGinley? The next Rankin? Does your illustration blow everything else out of the water?

This is one competition that could really take you somewhere. The competition is split into two categories - Illustration (judged by Peepshow Collective's Andrew Rae and Dazed's art department) and Photography (judged by Dazed cover photographer, Josh Olins, Frederike Helwig and Stephen Ledger-Lomas, Dazed's photographic director).

The winner from each category will be profiled over a full page in the September issue of Dazed & Confused, along with £100 in vouchers for the London Graphics Centre. Four runners-up will win £25 in vouchers. Furthermore, theprintspace - famed for their excellence in professional photographic and art printing - will provide a complete, leather-bound portfolio of the winner's body of work.

My image is the Scooter Skinhead in the Image Gallery, but I just wanted to clear up the typo: My name is Tom Langford and Kieron is the name of the image, after the guy in the photo!Whereas under my image it looks like I have a double-barrelled surname!

deets above - it's photography and illustration so you can submit to both if you're a multi-talented artist. Please read the format details above when sending in work - good luck!
