All my life I've been fascinated by the passage of time, and how the tiniest little actions have the most profound effects down the line, how the smallest change can effect the biggest things, how the simplest invention can revolutionise living, how something as simple as the printing press can flood a continent with new ideas and ideals. Being somebody young, emerging in a world like ours, , where economic crisis looms everywhere and people grow more insure about everything, it's nice to know that the smallest bit of influence or knowledge can brighten up the bigger picture. While our voice may be hushed out by the richer and the less raggedy looking sleazy slick haired individual in the tie,we can always comfort ourselves with the fact that the things in the future will be changed by our own simple actions, and the further down the line our influence gets, the more it grows... lets say you're transported back to the start of civilisation, and you decide that, instead of inventing the wheel, you're going to invent the spring! fast forward back to today and transported could be almost entirely spring based, cars would hop about the streets , space travel could be dominated by (more affordable) colossal slingshots.  It's a nice thought and can help make us more concious of our influence that even us, one in about six billion people can affect the future in the most unimaginable ways.

Time, can exist with every possibility occurring at once there are infinite passageways you can lead yourself down, like right now...what was it that brought you to read these words? What kind of state would the universe be in? Perhaps in an alternate existance you decided not to read this... and strolled carelessly outside your door, only to be hit by a taxi! See, you may have saved your own life in reading this.

Think about your favourite musicians, or painters, or fashion designers, what definitive point in their lives brought them to decide they wanted to do whatever it is they do so well? Now try and put yourself in their shoes...what do you want to do? What do you do better than anyone else? I don’t  mean to sound like some generic motivational speaker, telling you to follow some Ten Step Programme to success, but it’s worth considering taking those first few steps towards being the next Richard D James, or Picasso, right now, and if you fall flat on your face and decide to become a hermit, devouring small insects you suck up from between your floorboards...at least you can say "Gee wiz, I tried...” before throwing yourself beneath a rug at the first scent of a woodlouse.

So there it is, get up off your arse, start that dreamy progressive minimal techno act you’ve been thinking of on the train everyday, cause your own scene to erupt!, kick your plans over that hill!,vomit mercilessly in the face of your oppressors! don’t assume you’ll just come out of college and have somebody elses ideas you can latch your talents to. If you ever feel small, just start small...  because eventually it will grow into something huge.
